ABOUT THE HOSTS:

Dave and Jacqui van Graan

Dave has been involved with work and/or recreational activities requiring bush knowledge and 4x4 skills since around 1978. We both have been involved specifically in the 4x4 self drive guided expedition business since 1995. We both have considerable knowledge and experience to ensure all our expeditions are interesting and exciting. Our positive personalities make clients more relaxed, making the expeditions that much more memorable and enjoyable. We are committed to the management of natural resources and this is reflected in the business motto - "We support the responsible use of 4x4 vehicles in sensitive areas".

Born of our experiences in the bush, we have grown to become chefs capable of preparing a feast in the most remote places. Dave is a trained and registered emergency paramedic with many years experience of medical emergencies. This adds to the relaxed atmosphere on our expeditions, considering the remoteness of certain areas and the almost non-existence of modern medical facilities in most countries north of South Africa. Dave's most important asset is probably his calmness in the most adverse of conditions/situations.

The combination of his cooking skills, his vast knowledge of the African bush, his varied experiences in medicine and his Advanced Driver Training, make him the best choice for a guide in Africa. In his effort to provide the best service, Dave relies strongly on the organising and administrative skills of his wife, Jacqui. Jacqui is also quite capable of guiding a group into Africa and is also a registered Tourist Guide for the "Garden Route and Little Karoo". She is a qualified Analytical Chemist with a Higher Diploma in Analytical Chemistry.
