THE SOUTPANSBERG FOREST TRAIL (LIMPOPO, RSA) - 3 days recommended         4x2  WELCOME !!

The trail is mostly on graded gravel roads used for transporting the trees to the sawmill BUT there are a good few roads that warrant a 4x4 vehicle.  The trail goes through the Hanglip, Roodewal, Entabeni and Thate Vonde Plantations with various indigenous sections in between.  Highlights are some of the tallest trees (Redwoods) in RSA; the Fruit Salad Picnic Spot; the Angels’ Steps to Wim's View; a tea plantation; Botha's Pass; etc.  This trail improves by the day as we venture deeper into the forests and discover new places not generally seen before by the public.  Explore the magnificent secrets that the forests have to offer and sample the vhaVenda culture.  The following dates are ideas to give the family that deserved unwind:

CAMP AFRICA HUTS AND CAMPSITE (LIMPOPO, RSA) – Whenever you need a break…

Now if driving too far is not your ‘thing’… and you just want to mellow for a few days… why not join us at Camp Africa.  Camp Africa is situated on the fringes of indigenous forest and has a beautiful view over Makhado (Louis Trichardt) and the plains below.  By road it is approximately 4 km from the centre of Makhado.  Camp Africa has five (5) huts and many camping spots.  Each hut is a ‘family-unit’ with two (2) single beds and a double bunker, i.e. four (4) beds.  Camp Africa has a fully licensed bar and there is a kitchen area with two fireplaces and a double sink.  The ablution block - each of the ladies and gents has a toilet, washbasin and two showers with hot water from a 4kW geyser.  There is a large boma that holds a 'kuier-fireplace' so that the beautiful evenings of this region can be enjoyed.  Of interest to children, will be the animal pen we have with rabbits, chickens, goats, geese, ducks, etc.  There is much else to see and hear… so bring the family anytime for a short break from the mayhem of city life…

Activities include birding, tree-spotting, hiking, mountain biking, butterflies, moths… to name but a few…
